OUR STORY

Made for the long haul.

A small NYC studio building clothing that lasts.

NORTHFIELD started in a small studio in lower Manhattan in 2018 with a single conviction: most clothing today is built to fall apart. Cheap fabric, sloppy construction, designed for a season — gone in a year.

We took the opposite approach. We sit down with the same handful of mills in Italy, Portugal, and Japan that supply the heritage labels you already know. We ask for the same fabric — sometimes the exact same fabric — and we build clothing around it that’s meant to be worn for ten years, not one.

The result is a smaller catalog. We don’t drop new collections every six weeks. We don’t chase trends. The pieces we make are the ones we wear ourselves: a heavy cotton tee that holds its shape, a wool overcoat that tailors right out of the box, denim that breaks in the way denim is supposed to.

What we believe.

  • Fabric first. Every piece starts with the cloth. We pay more for it because it shows.
  • Make it once. One color, one cut, done well — beats five mediocre versions of the same thing.
  • USA-friendly. We design in NYC, ship from a New Jersey warehouse, and stand behind every piece for thirty days.
  • No middle men. We sell direct, which is why a 70/30 wool-cashmere overcoat lands at $245 instead of $695.

The team.

We’re a team of fourteen — designers, garment technicians, a small operations crew, and one dog who runs production approvals. Most of us came from larger fashion houses where we watched corners get cut. Here we don’t cut them.
